Naturopathy for Constipation

Naturopathic approaches to a constipation home remedy look wider than a lack of fibre or dehydration as the causes of constipation.

The basis of a naturopathic constipation home remedy is that there may be problems with the autonomic nervous system, or the liver is not functioning as well as it could (this is a naturpoathic interpretation, not a western medical one).

So the constipation home remedy suggested by a naturopathic approach looks at redressing these possible problems.

Supplementing with magnesium phosphate and potassium phosphate (for nerve impulses), and a good b vitamin complex (also for nerve impulses) is suggested.

Other constipation home remedies suggested include:

if diverticulitis is present, calcium fluoride
linseeds daily (people often have them with breakfast)
6 - 8 glasses water water daily
warm water with lemon juice in it in the morning first thing
for the liver - herbs like st mary's thistle (milk thistle), dandelion, or a preparation with a mixture of liver herbs and the amino acid taurine
