HOW TO START A DETOX


According to detox expert Jaison Greene, of the Detox Authority website, detox is the process by which your body naturally eliminates harmful wastes and toxins via the lungs, liver, kidneys, lymphatic system and colon. There are many plans and programs designed to detoxify the body, says Brad Crump, D.C., of Red Mountain Resort & Spa in Ivins, Utah. Ultimately, there is one goal in mind, and that is to remove foreign and potentially harmful substances from the body.

Prepare to Detox


Step 1


Determine eligibility. Crump believes anyone is a candidate for a good nutritionally based detoxification program. Keith Mirante, D.C., of Coastal Chiropractic & Wellness in Madison, Conn., agrees that cleansing is safe for everyone as long as it is supervised by a doctor. Greene, however, cautions those who are under the age of 18, over the age of 69, pregnant, breastfeeding, sick or recovering from an acute illness avoid detoxification.

Step 2

Set a time period. Choose a quiet period from one week to one month (no weddings, parties, big projects). Two weeks is ideal, recommends wellness coach Michelle Pfennighaus, of Boston, Mass. Set the start and end dates of the detox, and inform friends and family to not tempt you with outings and events that may distract from the detoxification process.

Step 3

Remove unwholesome foods from the home. Iva Keene, internationally recognized naturopath, recommends limiting intake to easily digestible foods rich in nutrients that support detoxification. Switching to whole foods frees up energy which can be used for cleaning and cell repair. Digestion of a regular meal requires a lot of energy because the body is bombarded with additives, preservatives and chemicals.

Eliminate all foods that have high inflammatory or allergenic potential, says Crump, such as dairy, soy, gluten and grains (wheat, rye, barley), refined foods (white sugar, white flour), all types of meat, fish, eggs, nuts, and seeds, starchy vegetables (potatoes, corn), and all fruit except lemons and grapefruits.

The Detox Process

Step 1

Eat real, clean whole foods. Whole foods contain vital nutrients for optimal liver function. Allowed foods include all vegetables (except potatoes and starches), organic lemons and grapefruit, filtered water, herbal teas (dandelion, peppermint, chamomile, St. Mary's thistle, nettle, lavender, lemon balm), olive oil, herbs and spices, sea algae and sea weed, suggests Keene.

Step 2

Drink appropriate fluids, especially water. Not only is water good for the cleansing process, says Keene, but it helps overcome food cravings. Have a glass of water, and the craving will pass.

Avoid caffeine. Caffeine is a diuretic, leads to dehydration and prevents the body from absorbing vitamins and minerals, says Greene. Avoid coffee, soda (even diet), and energy drinks. Herbal teas are permitted.

Do not consume alcohol. Alcohol damages the liver, muscles, and brain and depletes the body of essential vitamins and minerals, warns Greene.

Step 3

Be active. Start or maintain a moderate exercise program, such as walking. Greene suggests reducing intensive gym routines for at least the first week of detox. The body is working harder than normal to eliminate toxins, and muscle building exercises may overburden it.

Step 4

Consider introducing additional detox techniques. Keene prescribes daily baths with Epsom salts to draw impurities from the skin. One full body massage or lymphatic draining massage is highly recommended. Three colonics in three consecutive days in the middle of the detox will clear impurities from the colon.

Step 5

Brace for unpleasant side effects. The body and mind detox together. A few days after beginning the detox, expect to feel tired, lethargic, headachy, and emotional, warns Pfennighaus. Manage these temporary side effects with plenty of water and herbal tea, relaxation and frequent naps.

Dehydration: Carrot soup or juice, Lemon drink (add one lemon, 5gm salt, 3 table spoon honey to one glass water and mix well), Juice of orange, sweet lime, water mellon, coconut water or cucumber, and Rice starch.

Colitis: Curd, or Juice of carrot, cabbage, cucumber, apple, beet root, orange, banana, or papaya.

Acidity: cabbage and carrot juice, or juice of cucumber, bottle guard (lauki), apple, sweet lime, water mellon, pumpkin, banana, potato or papaya.

Ulcer: Equal amount of cold water and cabbage juice, cold milk, or juice of laud or carrot.
Lose motions: Butter milk + isabgol, juice of bottle guard (lauki), cucumber and carrot mixed with isabgol.
Jaundice: Juice of banana, orange, sweet lime, sugar cane, pineapple, papaya, tender turmeric, honey, radish leaves, radish, or spinach.
Diabetes: Juice of jambul (jamun), tomato, bitter guard, neem leaves, cucumber, bottle guard (lauki), carrot, spinach, or cauliflower.
Lever disorders: Juice of water mellon, mulberry, bitter guard, cucumber, bottle guard (lauki), beet root, carrot, pineapple, grapes or other sour fruits. Also, one may take tamarind (imli), tomato (without seeds) or coconut water.

Stones (pathri): juice of apple. radish or spinach leaves, carrot, tamarind, or tomato. It is also advisable to have coconut water or tomato soup. One should avoid small seeds of any vegetables or fruits.

Cough (Khasi): Drink hot water with few drops of honey and lime juice. Another effective mix is prepared by adding extracts of ginger, garlic, onion, holy basil to honey.

Throat disorders: Drink hot water with few drops of honey and lime juice. Other juice combinations helpful in this condition are carrot + beet root + spinach, Guava + onion + garlic, pineapple, orange or sweet lime. It is advisable to have little warm juice but remember not to heat the juice directly whereas dip the juice in hot water to heat it indirectly.

Skin diseases:
 Juice of carrot + spinach + tomato, potato, cucumber, neem leaves, beet root, water melon, guava, apple, orange or sweet lime. 

Fever: Pomegranate, orange, sweet lime, grapes, soaked resins. Garlic juice, onion juice, lemon juice and honey with hot water. 

Pneumonia: ginger, tender turmeric and honey mixed with hot water, steamed sweet lime juice, or Juice of orange, holy basil, carrot + tomato.

Insomnia: Juice of sweet fruits like apple, guava, mango, banana, grapes, etc. Juice of bottle guard (lauki), potato, spinach + carrot, salad leaves, onion.  

Migraine: lime water, juice of ginger, salad leaves with sweet fruit juices. 

Acne: spinach + carrot, potato + carrot, grapes + beet root, spinach + tomato or cucumber juice.
Eye diseases: Juice of papaya, carrot, tomato, spinach, radish leaves, mango, indian gooseberry (alma), orange or shaljam

Typhoid: Juice of pomegranate, orange, soaked figs, resins, onion, garlic or coconut water.
Influenza: onion, garlic and lime juice mixed with hot water is helpful in influenza. Juice of carrot, orange or sweet lime.

Anemia: Juice of Spinach and other leafy vegetables, tomato, indian gooseberry (alma), beet root, wheat grass, cabbage, bitter guard, grapes, resins soaked in water/milk, or munnake.

Heart diseases: Juice of  pomegranate, pineapple, indian gooseberry (alma), onion, garlic, orange, mulberry or sweet lime. Coconut water, and honey and lime mixed with water are also helpful in heart diseases. 

Pregnancy: juice of leafy vegetables such as spinach. Juice of carrot, tomato, apple, cucumber, grapes, custard apple or beet root. 

Mouth Ulcers: juice of chaulai, cabbage, spinach, tomato, cucumber or carrot.

Internal bleeding: 
Juice of apple, lemon, indian gooseberry (amla), nashpati or orange.

Infertility: Juice of carrot, spinach, apple or tomato, and sprouted wheat.

Weight loss: Juice of low calorie fruits and vegetables such as watermelon, cucumber, spinach, bottle guard (lauki), pumpkin, tomato, tender papaya, or cucumber.

Weight gain: Fruit Juice of high calorie sweet fruits such as pineapple, papaya, banana, orange, mango etc.

Hypertension or high blood pressure: Butter milk made from cow's milk, soybean curd, and Juice of onion, cucumber, tomato, orange, bottle gourd (lauki), carrot or sweet lime.

Cancer: Wheat grass  juice, Juice of holy basil (Tulsi) leaves, wheat or gram sprouts. Juices of sour fruits such as grapes, fig, cabbage, potato, resins, pineapple, orange, sweet lime, tender turmeric, papaya and Indian gooseberry (amla). Soup of tomato and cabbage with raw garlic.

Home Remedies


1) For Asthma
Take 1 tsp honey and 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder, mix them well before consuming. 

At early stages of asthma, a perfect home remedy is to boil 8-10 garlic cloves in 1/2 cup milk and consume it during night time.

Take very hot water and add a tsp of honey in it. Consume it just before sleep-ing and take small sips.

2) For Body Odour
Use antibacterial soap or deodorant soap while bathing.

To combat the unpleasant armpit odour apply cider vinegar. It serves as best body odour remedy.

In bathing water add a few cups of tomato juice and soak yourself in water for about 15 minutes.

3) For Backache
Squeeze juice of 1 lemon and add common salt in it. Drink it 2 times daily.

Raw potato in the form of poultice is to be applied on the pain affected area.

Usually Vitamin C, mainly found in citrus fruits, is valuable for getting rid of backaches. Consume about 2000 mg of this vitamin everyday.

Take about 10 small Garlic pieces and fry them in sesame, coconut or mustard oil on a low flame. Fry till garlic cloves turn light brown. Let oil prepared from garlic cool completely. Thereafter apply it on the back and keep it for about 3 hours.

Mantra for Headache Relief :


As headache is the first symptom of stress, this can be alleviated by all the previous mantras, however a special suggestve mantra but also very effective for giving relief from headaches is ;-

Exhale with = IMPROVIH - HEADACHE
And then inhale deeply or
Inhale with = VARA-PAHA-KAMMAND

Inhale/exhale silently as above for a few minutes and the headache will slowly ease out. All types of headache whether caused by stress, or congestive type or other type are ameliorated with this mantra definitely except the headache initiated by the approaching weather storm, when due to the ingestion of higher ionic presence in the stormy air, due to Radon or other-wise can initiate headache in certain persons for which the author has discovered a special medicine which immediately cures the weather struck headaches or headaches caused by watching television which emits high energy x-rays to cause damage to the eyes directly plus due to ingestion of ionised air caused by x-rays. This medicine is given to the patient on personal consultation and cannot be sent by post, as it is spot prepared.

It is interesting to note that the word Headache is constituted of three seed words H, D & K (CH) - all these words are specific to Head and hence this mantra - IMPROVIH - HEADACHE is very very efficacious. Re-establish Connection With Six Life Principles

And all these headaches and other stress symptoms will never bother us, if we re-establish our body/mind connection with the basic six principles of nature - Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether principle and the sixth being the OMNI -principle-the God almighty and even God will not help us, if we continue to exceed our body/mind biological limits agains & again.

Proper intake of balanced nutritious food is a must because our health is another name of - what we eat, what we drink, what we breathe and above all what we think. And our food should mostly include milk, curd, fresh fruits/vegetables/grains or the enlivened sprouted grains, etc. without too much of fats, or condiments, and the food quantity to be taken should be just sufficient to keep us alive and one fourth of the stomach should be kept empty for air/ether to act, taking only a small quantity of water alongwith the meals, but one should take a glass full of water about half an hour after the meals and we must take atleast 6-8 glasses of water everyday to keep ourselves healthy (See chapter on Water).

Also, one should avoid taking too hot/too cold food stuff. Too hot food can cause blisters in the mouth, as well as toothache in case of loose teeth. Similarly, too cold foods like very cold icecreams can make the throat feel numb and can initiate a headache or a toothache.

Sunbathing for 5 minutes to half an hour can rejuvenate the body but those suffering from sarcoma of the skin should avoid direct sunbathing. Similarly, we must re-establish our connection with the earth by walking bare footed, particularly in our lawn for sometimes daily.

Mantra for Stressed Politicians :

Last, but not the least, I must give a soothing mantra for stressed politicians who in democratic countries often get displaced after four or five years term, because people get fed up with the party in power and people want to try the other political party for a change. The deposed party politicians feel ill at ease, like a fish out of water but what cannot be cured or procured must be endured. This interval should be used for self analysis, rest and Hibernation, to recoup health so as to capture power again with renewed zeal, when the next opportunity comes, because as they say, politicians have nine lives of a cat and thus, those who survive this stressful! period, can hope to capture power again and you can surely survive using the following mantra:-

Inhale with = SWA-RAJA MHAN
Exhale with = MIHI - JEESHWERIEN

The inhale mantra Swa-RAJA-Mhan, means that I am the great king of myself and one who can become the king of the self or the master of one's desires, has achieved all. He is now a king of the whole universe. And the Exhale Mantra-Mini-Jeshwerien means that "I will live on and on."

This mantra prescribed for politicians is for one and all and is the universal mantra to help us to rejuvenate and recuperate ourselves completely.
Now the beneficial action of the above healing mantras as help in breathing is six fold:

1) These help to re-establish the shallow and erratic breathing disturbed by stress to its normal pattern.

2) The above mantras have been so formulated by proper selection of healing words as to provide pranic life energy to the stressed sense organs like eyes and the total mind which receives and co-ordinates and interprets the sense signals, so that mind can re-establish its supremacy in controlling the body, by bringing about Harmony between the Body, Brain and Soul.

3) These breathing mantras help to restore the digestive as well as waste elimination system in the body to its peak performance again; the pores of the skin reopen to cool by perspiration; the action of kidneys/intestines is improved. All blockages are dissolved.

4) These breathing mantras also help to scavenge the blood veins/arteries of fatty cholesterol and other salt deposits by optimal oxygenation of the blood, thus decreasing the blood pressure raised by stress. These mantras also help to rid us of stress by the Vipasna Meditation effect of the mantric Breathing because in this, our thought also moves alongwith the breath, thus quietening our agitated mind. The Vipasna Meditation is a famous one advocated by Lord Buddha. If our thought is fixed on breathing, all stress is dissolved.

Natural Treatment for Migraine


Migraine is an ancient and formidable malady. It bothered such distinguished persons as Caesar and Freud. It has assumed alarming proportions under modern conditions of living and is now believed to afflict about 10 per cent of the world’s population.


Migraine can be defined as a paroxysmal affection, accompanied by severe headache, generally on one side of the head and associated with disorders of the digestion, the liver and the vision. It usually occurs when a person is under great mental tension or has suddenly got over that state.

Migraine is also known as "sick headache" because nausea and vomiting occasionally accompany the excruciating pain which lasts for as long as three days. Migraine usually gives warning before it strikes black spots or a brilliant zig-zag line appears before the eyes or the patient has blurring of vision or has part of his vision blanked out. Then the headache occurs, the patient may feel tingling, numbness, or weakness in an arm or leg.

Migraine sufferers have what is known as a "migrainous personality ". They are compulsive workers and perfectionists, who feel that they have to do everything right away. When they complete a task, they are suddenly laid down from a state of temporary tension to a feeling of utmost relief. Then comes the migraine. It is a purely physiological process. The head and neck muscles, reacting to continuous stress, become overworked. The tightened muscles squeeze the arteries and reduce blood flow. When a person relaxes suddenly, the constricted muscles expand, stretching the walls of the blood-vessel. With every heart beat, the blood being pushed through this vessels expands them further and causes incredible pain.

When a headache strikes, one should stay on one’s feet in the daytime and do simple chores which do not require too much concentration or walk, move around and get some fresh air.

The best remedy to prevent headaches is to build up physical resistance through proper nutrition, exercise and constructive thinking. As a first step, the patient should undertake a short fast. During the fast, citrus fruit juices, diluted with water may be taken six times daily. By taking the load of digestion, the patient will at once save nervous energy which can be utilised for more important purposes. The blood and lymph will also be relieved of a great burden. After a short fast, the diet should be fixed in such a way as to put the least possible strain on the digestion.

Breakfast should consist of fruits, both fresh and dried. Lunch should consist largely of protein foods. Starchy foods such as whole wheat bread, cereals, rice or potatoes should be taken at dinner along with raw salads. Spices, tomatoes, sour buttermilk and oily foodstuffs should be avoided. Drinking a glass of water ( warm water in winter and cool water in summer) mixed with a teaspoonful of honey the first thing in the morning, is also a good remedy.


There are certain water applications which help relieve headaches. Copious drinking of water can help , as do the cleansing enema with water temperature at 98.6 o F, the hot foot bath, a cold throat pack, frequent applications of towels wrung out from very hot water to the back of the neck, a cold compress at 40 o to 60o F applied to the head and face or an alternate spinal compress. Headaches afflict almost everyone at some time or the other. Most headaches are functional, caused by temporary upsets and are not related to any organic changes in the brain. A headache is often nature’s warning that something is wrong somewhere in the body. The actual pain, however, arises from irritation to nerve endings in the shoulder, neck and scalp muscles and also in the smooth muscles encircling the blood vessels which serve these areas.


There are several types of headaches, with as many ways of treating them. Taking an aspirin or tranquiliser may provide temporary relief but it does not remove the cause. Moreover, the frequent use of pain-relievers causes nervous debility, weakens the heart and brings on other complications.

High blood pressure can cause pounding headaches. The headache usually starts at the back of the head on getting up in the morning. A safe method of treatment for this is to immerse your legs to calf-level in a tub of hot water for 15 to 20 minutes. This draws the blood away from the head and down to the feet, giving relief from the headache.

Many people get a severe headache after consuming alcohol in excess. Alcohol causes the blood vessels to swell, resulting in a painful headache. The best treatment for this is to avoid excessive consumption of alcohol. A hangover headache can be avoided by taking a vitamin B-1 (thiamine) tablet with the drink.

Headaches may occur if there is an infection, such as a cold, virus and fever. Here, it is the infection that should be tackled. Vitamin C therapy is the best all round method. All asanas should, however, be discontinued except shavasana if the blood pressure is above 200 milimeters.
